More about Cog-Ed®
Hi,
My name is Debbie and I founded Cog-Ed® in 2014, a registered and trademarked specialist teaching and training company for professionals, parents and children. I have worked in the education and psychology sector for over 25 years and support and teach primary age to undergraduates. I am a Chartered Psychologist, and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a professional member of the Division of Researchers and Teachers in Psychology (DARTP). I am also an associate lecturer in education, psychology and child psychology, a doctoral researcher, writer and a dyslexia specialist and, most importantly, a mum of three, now grown up, children :)
I am a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific learning difficulty (PATOSS) and also hold an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) which enables me to carry out full dyslexia diagnostic assessments. I have gained post graduate qualifications in literacy, psychological methods and low intensity psychological (CBT) interventions and have worked within the National Health Service, (CAMHS), Mental Health Voluntary Organisations, Adult Education, all sectors of education: Primary, Secondary and Higher Education as well as local council within Community Learning.
Why Cog-Ed?
Cog-Ed® focuses on the process of learning and acquiring knowledge through thinking, feeling and doing, drawing on skills such as reasoning, perception and past experiences. I have spent most of career focusing on how people learn and develop and how best to support this and draw only on evidence based approaches.
Cog-Ed offers support, courses, workshops and training in education, learning and psychology for children, teenagers, adults, parents and professionals, as well as full dyslexia diagnostic assessments. As an experienced educator Cog-Ed draws on evidence based training and interventions which are structured and multisensory depending on the needs and requirements of the child, educators, parents and setting.
